North American Tile Tools latest development is a radical new underlayment for ceramic tile.
The patented TI-ProBoard was developed primarily to tile decks, however the uses extend into other areas of the home. Indoors it can be used to replace wood sub-floors on new and existing floors for kitchens, bathrooms, mudrooms, entryways, laundry rooms etc.
Further independent testing on expansion and contraction resulted in “insignificant movement” from temperatures of 130°f to minus 30°f. All these tests were carried out using thin set ANSI 118.4 and standard sanded grout ANSI 118.6.
The simplicity of TI-ProBoard is a choice that will open new opportunities for the tiling profession to expand its business into greater outdoor sales. To install, screw down the interlocking TI-ProBoard with #8 1-1/4” coated screws to joists 16” on centers.
Pictures speak for themselves showing the compression strength of porcelain tile, the shear strength of epoxy thin set and the tensile strength of TI-ProBoard. The 20” porcelain tile deflected 1-1/4” when the pressure was released the tile and ProBoard returned to being flat without either being compromised.
